Photosession in cafe part #1
I had a terrific evening just the other day.
It was late, I was in a café, an a girl was there, too. We both were waiting for our orders to be delivered. She was smoking. So was I. We talk about each other’s past.
I try to be as eloquent as possible, using phrases like ‘in my green years’, ‘when I was not so old’, ‘years ago’, ‘when the grass was greener’ and the like. All she said started with ‘When I worked in this model agency…’
When she was saying this for probably the 25th time, I interrupt her.
- Oh, did you really work in a model agency?
- Uh, well, yeah, I just told you that…
- Really? I must have missed it. And what did you do?
- I posed, worked at shootings. There was my photo in this magazine advertising that.
- Don’t know the mag. Are you good at posing?
- Well, I assume so. I’ve been training for four years.
I unzip my bag and pull out a camera:
- Don’t mind me checking it?
- What, right here?
- Yes.
- Well, you know, it’s kinda…
- I see. Four years of training, model agency, and childish complexes on top of that.
I start packing the camera back.
- Right, come on!
She rolls her eyes back, smiles, and curls her lips. She’s not a glamorous girl, but a lively, pleasing one. I start shooting, one, two, five…
- Do I look good there?
- Hmm, well, not really. Let me fix something.
I take her by the chin and direct her head to reach the right angle, then go on shooting.
- Yeah, much better this way.
The waitress brought the tea. I took the girl by her cheeks with both my hands and move her head a bit. She smiles in silence. Here I get this wild idea; though I wait a bit and touch her face again. Then I tuck her hair behind the ears and fix her earrings. God, what a divine look her eyes gave. Well, that’s four years of practice.
- Well, that’s great. And now close your eyes. No, not like that, I mean close them for real. It’ll be a great shot.
So, there she is, bent in my direction, her chin lifted, eyes closed, lips relaxed. I took the camera away and give her a hard French kiss…
